Gameboard in normal room light.
Gameboard under red 'day' light
Gameboard under blue 'night' light
Below are some unedited photos of the game under the different light conditions:
The Vampire's tower with blue (night) and red (day) light.
Beware of Zombie's in the graveyard at night... and changing die rolls.
Oh snap! That homeless dude was actually a werewolf! Wuuuuuut!
The final payoff! Defeat Drakus and open them curtains - Burn Drakus!
Front and back card designs. Left is normal light. Middle is blue 'night' light. Right is red 'day' light.
Now for some alternate box covers. These first three are the initial designs I either created or art directed... but unfortunately were never used:
This was my first concept for the cover. The box art works day side or night side up. This also helps to explain that there's something quite different about this game. I particulary like that the subline also reads well in either direction: "WHEN YOU TURN OUT THE LIGHTS, THE HUNT BEGINS" or "THE HUNT BEGINS, WHEN YOU TURN OUT THE LIGHTS".
Another direction. This time taking the more fantasy/mystery approach. So I commissioned the work of James Goodridge to do something that was similar to a modern day classic horror movie poster. Typographic logo created by me.
Marketing decided they wanted something the kids could relate to... Make it so the kids envision themselves as the Vampire Hunter. So I enlisted the work of sci-fi and horror book cover artist Cliff Nielsen. He is also responsible for much of the content illustrations including the final gameboard.
And finally, where marketing ended up. A campy direction that leaves little to the imagination much in the vane of the old 70s and 80s commercials. Logo by me and photoshoot art direction by me.
